CA’s Single Payer Bill, AB 1400 Advances to the Assembly Floor for a Vote Next Week!

AB 1400 (CalCare) passed out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee today with a reference to amendments that will be public early next week. Chair Holden announced that the bill was passed on a party-line vote (with the exception of Dr. Webber of San Diego abstaining). Per the Chair’s announcement, implementation is contingent on a statute to create revenue mechanisms to fund CalCare, a fiscal report on whether CalCare can be implemented, and further approval by the Legislature.

Thank you to those members who joined our informative webinar today which highlighted our members-only toolkit to understand AB 1400 and clearly communicate concerns to the legislature that will be voting on the bill next week.
